Directions:
We are about to finish with the adventure that you began 4 months ago creating and making possible a new idea. Remember that one of the first statements we review about entrepreneurs was that, no matter if they create a lucrative or non-lucrative organization, both of them make huge changes in society and all of us have an impact in society. Thus, this is the moment in which you have to evaluate the impact of your business and create strategies in benefit of common well-fare.So first of all we have to see:
1. What social responsibility is?
2. What will happen if you don´t consider the impact of your actions
3. Finally, you will make a social responsible strategy for your enterprise.
Activities.
First hour session.· Look at the video that appears above
· Next review the power point named social responsibility power point and make a summary about the main facts.
· Then in gather in teams of four or five and read the document.
· Afterward, answer the questions about this case:
1. Use the model in Exhibit 1 as a guide and assess the ethical and social responsibility implications of the situations described.
2. Can you recommend alternative strategies or solutions to the dilemmas confronting the tobacco companies? To governments?
3. What is the price of ethical behavior?
4. Should the U.S. government support U.S. tobacco company interests abroad?
5. Should a company be forced to stop marketing a product that is not illegal, such as cigarettes?
· Send your answers through the subject´s blog and make a comment about other´s team job.
Second hour session
· Now it is time to make your own social responsible statements and gather them in a final document known as the Code ethics.
· To do so, follow the Decision Tree for Incorporating Ethical and Social Responsibility and do it for your business concept.
· Afterwards, write four statements (at least, may be more) about your enterprise, following this strategy:
1. Goals. Define the interest of the organization in terms of aggregated values for all the people involve and the impact generated in the community, explaining who will be this people benefited
2. Issues management: Enterprise identifies and monitors the social, ethical and environmental issues important for their operations and image (based in your organizational Culture documents: Code of ethics, Mission and Vision)
3. Activities: Define specific actions to be put on practice and describe the way you are going to apply them.
Final product:· Case solutions with the answers send through the blog of the subject and the comment made to another team.
· The Social responsibility strategy for your business must be sent through the blog entrance about this topic.
Evaluation criteria.· The answers for the case must include critical thinking competences, thus we are going to use this rubric to evaluate answers.
· In the Social responsibility strategy it must be consider:
o Clear and concrete goals for your strategy.
o Comparison with your organizational documents such as: code of ethics, mission and vision.
o Concrete actions done beside the usual activities of your enterprise that are focused in common well fare.
